November Pastor’s Message

Celebrating Christmas this year

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

Hebrews 13:8

Christmas Eve worship will be offered on our parking lot at 1pm and 4pm this year. We will also have a Candlelight Service available on video on our website and our Facebook page.

Candlelight Kits will be available for a new home tradition; I’m encouraging all of us to read the Nativity story, light candles, and sing Silent Night wherever we are on Christmas Eve. Home ceremonies are a staple of Jewish holiday celebrations, such as Hanukkah Menorah lighting and Passover Seders. We will create a short and meaningful experience that will bring the Spirit into your home.

The Music and Worship Committee never thought we would have to plan Christmas Eve services so drastically different from our established pattern. Of course, in 2020, we’ve done a lot of things that seemed utterly unimaginable not very long ago. We have been “living in interesting times,” as the oft spoken blessing/curse says. Some changes in our lives are not a dream come true; that doesn’t mean that there aren’t opportunities for innovation and reinvention that we could enjoy.

Christ is coming into our world, and it is time for us to prepare our hearts. Our celebrations might look different this year, but “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever!”
